CURRO GÓMEZ. A plastic artist from Madrid, Curro Gómez works in the plastic arts and is based in Mexico City. He is a self-taught artist that began drawing since his earliest memories. Continuing into school, he spent his time in class drawing in books and even on his desk. His course of study was in publicity and communications, and he was employed as Art Director in several companies. He got his start in 1997 as a professional plastic artist, combining the plastic arts with graphic design and an exploration of new and cutting-edge trends in the medium. In 2003, pulled to Mexico by love, he set up in Mexico City where he practices asceticism in the shade of a lemon tree. He has participated in many art exhibits, collectives and solo shows, in Mexico, Spain and the United States. Additionally, he has organized other artistic projects and illustrated existential children’s books. With his influences ranging from Romanesque to Street Art, from Dadaism to Psychedelic art, the underground or contemplative mysticism, his work is based in the most current threads of metaphysical-anarchistic and transpersonal-folkloric thought. Not only technical skill but an eclectic approach and experimentation define an unorthodox working style that makes use of digital tools as well as the more traditional paints, markers, spray paints, stencils, BIC pens, etc.
Recently, he is spending his time dedicated to his two passions: Art and traditional Spanish Cooking.
